Carla was awarded the honor of being the National Winner of the 2008 All State Gospel Superfest Opening Act Contest. Carla made headlines for being the last minute contestant who stole the show! Thousands of votes from fans from around the country allowed her the opportunity to open up for world renowned artist such as John P. KEE, Mary Mary, Kierra Sheard, and many others. Carla has touched the hearts of  many lives with her sound and ministry.

           We Need You Right Now Lord

 Donny Hathaway was one of the brightest new voices in soul music at the dawn of the '70s, possessed of a smooth, gospel-inflected romantic croon that was also at home on fiery protest material. Hathaway achieved his greatest commercial success as Roberta Flack's duet partner of choice, but sadly he's equally remembered for the tragic circumstances of his death -- an apparent suicide at age 33. Hathaway was born October 1, 1945, in Chicago, but moved to St. Louis when he was very young, and began singing in church with his grandmother at the scant age of three. He began playing piano at a young age, and by high school, he was impressive enough to win a full-ride fine arts scholarship to Howard University to study music in 1964. While in college, he performed with a cocktail jazz outfit called the Ric Powell Trio, and wound up leaving school after three years to pursue job opportunities he was already being offered in the record industry.

           Award-winning singer Vickie Winans comes from a large family of impressive gospel singers. She began her career when she was a small child, performing with family. All grown up, she completed her debut solo album, Be Encouraged, in 1985. It was the first of a long line of recordings that would bring her a number of hits and music awards. Born the seventh child of a still-growing family, Winans was raised in Detroit, MI. Her entire family was a musical one, and deeply religious as well. She was only about eight years old when she began singing at the family church, astounding the audience with her vocal ability. Her love for the Gospel and music was the perfect combination. She's shared success with the famous Winans family, for she married Marvin Winans and eventually joined forces with the gospel group. Vickie's first solo album carries a track that became her signature song, "We Shall Behold Him." The debut full-length offering also earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Female Contemporary Soul Gospel Album, a Stellar Award for Album of the Year, and an Excellence Award for Best Female Contemporary Artist. It was a foretelling of what was to come. Through the latter half of the '80s into the next decade, Winans recorded several award-winning albums. When not in the recording studio, she spent much of her time performing more than 200 nights most years. She has also made numerous television appearances on shows like Oprah, the Grammy Awards, Arsenio Hall, Queen Latifah, and The Pat Sajak Show and starred in Broadway musicals like Don't Get God Started. Winans' music can be deeply gospel, contemporary Christian, or any mixture in between. Her most famous songs include "We Shall Behold Him," "Daddy Can't Sing," "First Trumpet Sound," "The Diet Medley," "Boyfriends," "Its Yo Thang," "Give It One More Try," "Sweeter Than the Honeycomb," and "Little Timmy." In 1989, BeBe won His First Grammy for Best Soul Gospel Performance, Male for his contribution to "Abundant Life", a track on his brother Ronald's Family & Friends Choir.

Byron Cage is an American gospel recording artist. Born: December 15, 1962 , Grand Rapids, MI Byron Cage - Goodbye Breathe--Byron Cage

Byron Cage spent his childhood, growing up in a small town in Michigan, where his exceptional musical gifts appeared to those around him very early in deed. His mother noticed that Byron, who seldom cried, preferred to hum some unknown melodies to himself as a baby, to amuse himself. His mom would say, “Listen to him! He’s just singin’ away!” So, it’s not surprising to find out that his first solo in church happened when he was only 4 years old. Besides singing, Cage played the sax throughout his teenage years. In his later teen years, he self-taught himself to play the keyboard, becoming pretty proficient. At the age of 13, Byron and his family moved to Detroit, where he became a member of Greater Grace Temple which was a great place to not only spiritually grow in the Lord, but also proved to be a nurturing environment for developing musical gifts of their members. Besides Byron Cage, Fred Hammond and several other young men who later wound up forming the Gospel group, COMMISSIONED, all attended and were involved in the music ministry at Greater Grace Temple. Byron Cage became a vocal soloist and the church’s youth choir director.

Byron Cage was offered a full music scholarship to Morehouse College in Atlanta. This opportunity to be educated with the techniques, mechanics, and theory of music making, further strengthened his considerable musical gifts, which he put into practice when yet another opportunity to become a music director opened to him. While in Atlanta, Byron Cage became the music director of a small, but vibrant church, New Birth. While Cage was musical director, the church grew from 700 members to 16,000! In 1998, Byron Cage moved to Fort Washington, to become the Senior Minister of Church Worship and Music at the Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church. Besides serving at this large A.M.E. Church, Cage also serves as the international minister of music for Bishop Paul Morton’s full Gospel Baptist Fellowship, a major organization of Baptist churches. Born on October 26, 1911, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Mahalia Jackson started singing as a child at Mount Moriah Baptist Church and went on to become one of the most revered gospel figures in the U.S. Her recording of “Move On Up a Little Higher” was a major hit and she subsequently became an international figure for music lovers from a variety of backgrounds. She worked with artists like Duke Ellington and Thomas A. Dorsey and also sang at the 1963 March on Washington at the request of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. She died on January 27, 1972.
