The Reverend Dr. James Cleveland (December 5, 1931 - February 9, 1991) was a gospel singer, arranger, composer and, most significantly, the driving force behind the creation of the modern gospel sound, bringing the stylistic daring of hard gospel and jazz and pop music influences to arrangements for mass choirs.
Born in Chicago, he began singing as a boy soprano at Pilgrim Baptist Church, where Thomas A. Dorsey was minister of music and Roberta Martin was pianist for the choir. He strained his vocal cords as a teenager while part of a local gospel group, leaving the distinctive gravelly voice that was his hallmark in his later years. The change in his voice led him to focus on his skills as a pianist and later as a composer and arranger. For his pioneering accomplishments and contributions, he is regarded by many to be one of the greatest gospel singers to ever live.

Guide them Father as they face the monumental challenges that come with the office (wars, rumors of wars, economic crises, health care crises, education issues, high jobless rates, home foreclosures, homelessness, etc.). Father cause these leaders to follow you and your word. Strengthen their resolve to live for you and maintain a strong walk with you. Protect them from the forces of evil. Lord not only do we need you to look after our newly elected leaders but we also need you to look after those who elected them. Our country is still greatly divided on many issues and we need you help get us to common ground where we can work as a united body yet with tolerable differences.

Lord, we pray that Malia and Sasha would have a peace that passes all understanding guarding their hearts and minds as they prepare to enter a new school. We pray they would quickly make real friends and experience your joy in their new life. We pray that they would always feel grounded and secure in your love and their parent's love. We pray that they would know your perfect love and reflect it those around them. Keep them safe and secure. We pray for Michelle and Barack as parents that they would be wise and discerning in how to best parent their girls. Also give them comfort and peace as so often parents feel things so deeply for their children. Remember, you deserved punishment. Instead, God gave you what He deserved, and EVERYTHING you have -- every breath -- is a gift.

If you're born again and have the Word of God in your heart, you can live in victory. You may not have all the answers. There may be a great many spiritual things you don't understand. But, it's not those things that are most likely to destroy you. It's the things you know to do - but don't - that usually make you fall.
Just think about walking at night down a dark, unfamiliar path in the middle of a jungle. The guide up ahead has a flashlight to keep you on the right path. But then, you just decide to wander off into the darkness by yourself. What do you think will happen to you? You'll probably stumble and fall. Very likely, you'll get hurt.
That's exactly the same thing that can happen in your walk with the Lord. He knows what's ahead and He shines just enough light for you to take one step at a time. You have to continue walking in that light in order to get where you're going.
You may not know why He's leading you a certain way. You may not understand all the things involved. But God will make up for your ignorance by the Holy Spirit. He'll see to it that you have victory if you continue in what you know.
It's good to keep studying. It's good to keep learning. But remember, it's not the great revelation you haven't had yet that will cause you the most trouble. It's failing to walk in the ones God has already given you. So, be faithful in those things. Continue in them day after day after day. You'll make it through just fine!
Thanksgiving Day Reflection JaneRedCliff to Obama Father, We thank you for this special time of reflection of what You have done this past year, and for what You have in store for us this coming year! You have blessed us with many answers to prayer. You have kept Barack Obama and his family safe and secure while promoting him to the highest leadership position in the USA. We thank You for all your blessings, for each and every person who supported his candidacy, for the many faithful believers who prayed for Barack, for the many who donated their time and money to make it possible. We believe that You have a plan for our nation, a plan to prosper and bless the USA under Barack's leadership. We thank You for provision of food, gas and electricity to heat and cool our homes, for transportation, for running water, for friends and family. Most of all, we are thankful that You are our God, our blessed Heavenly Father who loves us unconditionally. Thank You for comforting us in our times of sorrow, for healing us when we are sick, for carrying us when we feel we just cannot go another step, and for bringing people into our lives who we can love and who will love us back. We are so grateful for the Obama Prayer Team. Thank You, Father, for providing us the rock of our salvation, Jesus Christ. Nov.21, 2008 I thank you God; I praise you for who you are and all you have done in my life. I thank you for the encouragement that the election of Barack Obama has brought in to my life….. I ask you God to help me to continue to work, to push, to organize, to be an example of the change we need in this country.
I pray to you oh God for a special blessing on all the people who have come together to build a new team of leaders and builders, thinkers and planners who will guide this country in the new administration. Give them wisdom and understanding and a true spirit of HOPE to bring real CHANGE.
Dear God, help us to see that we must love and help each other, that our living must be an example of your love for all of us manifested in our actions. Help us to live our faith everyday of the week in all we do.

Dearest Father, We thank you for traveling mercies for Barack, his family and his crew. Open the windows of heaven and pour out your blessings. Holy Spirit, comfort each and every one. Fill his plane and every place he enters with Comfort, Peace, Wisdom, Love, Compassion, Kindness and Truth. Keep Barack safe in the palm of Your mighty hand. Encourage him and renew his strength. Father, in the midst of all the lies of the enemy, we ask for You to give Barack favor with the people of the United States. I am getting numerous new false accusations from my Christian friends and fellow prayer warriors concerning Barack Obama. Some of them are quoting church leaders and other Christian leaders of our Nation warning them that Barack is really a Muslim and wants to take away our freedom to worship as a Christian. Since this is directly a lie from the pit of hell we have authority over it, in Jesus' name.
Father, according to Thy word, those who spread lies and bear false witness are unrighteous and evil. You said that we would be accountable for every word and for destroying the character of people through lies and false witness. Holy Spirit, You came to convict and to expose unrighteousness and reveal righteousness. We ask that you rend the veil from the eyes and ears of the body of Christ and reveal the truth about Barack Obama to your people. We do not want members of the body to be guilty of sin, and we desire an end of the false accusations by our brothers and sisters in Christ against our brother Barack. We bring before you the lies that those who proclaim to be leaders in the body of Christ are teaching others. We bring this evil before You and ask You to expose it for the evil that it is. Father, we bring before You the lies that are being spread over the internet by well meaning members of the body of Christ. We ask for a spirit of conviction of sin come over your body regarding this matter, that you wake people up, give them dreams and visions, convict them in their innermost heart, shake up your church to be convicted of this sin. We ask for repentance to come forth from the Christian leaders in our nation who are guilty of this sin, and we ask that it comes forth publicly before the election. We thank you for hearing our prayers and for cleansing the body of Christ, that we might be righteous before You and in so doing bring You Glory. Thank You, Lord for your grace and mercy.
