We cannot always say that everything is well in our lives. There will always be problems to face, and sometimes there will be tragedies. But with faith in a loving God and with trust in His divine help, we can confidently say, “It is well, it is well with my soul.”
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul.
As Christians, even through our trials and tears, we are called to look through the eyes of faith and,say, “It is well.” It is well not because of our strength but because of God's power. It is well not because our stories always work out the way we want, but because God works for our good.
And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, Even so, it is well with my soul.
